Hello, my name is Bryan Sekine. I'm a performing artist based in central Oklahoma, and I bring entertainment services to weddings, parties, festivals, and private bookings — large or small.

While I specialize in fire performance, I also perform with theatrical costuming built to fit the event. When a fire show isn't an option, I bring state-of-the-art LED entertainment into the venue instead — same choreography, no permit conversation.

Biography

I've been an active performer since 2003. The majority of that experience is theater, dance, character acting, and combat choreography. In 2015 I was introduced to flow arts and fell in love with spinning the dragon staff. After two years of combining that with my dance and choreography background, I went on to perform and instruct at festivals, concerts, private events, and local shows. My goal is to teach at as many flow festivals as I can, and help spread the love of flow arts.

From 2019 to October 2022 I was the Marketing Director and Social Media Manager for the Flow Arts Institute, where I created their online merchandise, managed their social platforms, oversaw their online article writing, and assisted with festival vending.

  • Intro to dragon staff

    Enter the Dragon

    Understanding rolling direction versus spinning direction, learning how to do a Chi Roll, and learning how to do the Cheating Death.

  • Intermediate dragon staff

    Infinite Circles with Dragons

    Windmills, transitions, breaks, and putting it all together. This workshop highlights how you can generate momentum using the backs of your hands and using breaks. Anti-spin and in-spin chi roll are prerequisites.

  • Intermediate dragon staff

    Say Your Prayers

    One-armed rolls and Prayers: the four variations of the one-armed roll, and entering and exiting Prayers. We also cover ways to work these tricks into your play with a few fun transitions.

  • Mixed level dragon staff

    Dancing with Dragons

    How to move, dance, and be more expressive with your dragon staff flow. This one focuses on transitional moves that add flare to your movement and inspire new combinations. No prerequisites.

  • Advanced dragon staff

    How to Trap Your Dragon

    Traps and fountains: high traps, low traps, high fountains, low fountains, and the transitions between them all — plus how to enter and exit each one.

  • Intro to 8 rings

    WTF are 8 Rings?!

    The basics of 8 rings, getting familiar with the two types of grids, and transitions between hands together and hands separate — wall plane versus buzz saw plane.

Booking questions

What happens if my venue does not allow open flame?
I bring LED props instead. The LED show uses the same choreography and the same props in electronic form, so it works indoors, in tented spaces, and anywhere a fire permit is not realistic. Many clients book LED for the reception and fire for an outdoor moment.
Are you insured, and do you bring your own safety?
Yes. Fire bookings include a professionally trained fire safety, full coverage insurance for your event, and all fuel and materials.
Which props do you perform with?
Dragon staff, contact staff, buugeng, 8 rings, contact sword, double staffs, double cutlasses, stilt walking, and fire breathing. Dragon staff is my specialty.
Do you travel outside the Oklahoma City metro?
Yes. Mileage is waived inside the OKC metro and billed per mile beyond it. Tell me the venue and I will quote it with the travel included.
Do you teach as well as perform?
Yes — I have taught dragon staff and 8 rings workshops at flow festivals including FireDrums, PlayThink, FlowStorm, FLAME Retreat, and CampFire. Six workshops are ready to run, from intro to advanced.
